Richard was born into a Ugandan village where almost 99% of the parents were illiterate. Extreme poverty and polygamy troubled his family to the extent that education wasn’t a priority- it was a matter of survival. Richard realized that school was the best answer to realize his dreams, and although he couldn’t afford the uniform, school fees, or even shoes, he did odd jobs to help pay his school fees himself. He believed God created him for more than poverty and suffering, and he was determined to pursue a higher purpose.

Richard graduated with a degree in Social Work and Social Administration and later completed his master’s degree in Servant Leadership from Uganda Christian University. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding from Kampala International University.

Richard served as Children’s Director at The Vine before moving into the role of Executive Director in 2018. He is married to his childhood sweetheart, Rebecca, and together they have three children.
